- A man was driving a red SUV on 2nd Avenue North in Moorhead at about 9:15 p.m. on June 21, 2026, when he collided with a parked vehicle, causing obvious damage to both vehicles, according to the complaint.
- He allegedly continued driving without stopping or leaving a note on the struck vehicle.
- A person who heard the collision from two blocks away called police.
- A Moorhead police officer followed the trail of debris to where he was standing near the vehicle he had been driving.
- He acknowledged having just driven it, according to the complaint.
- He told the officer he had two drinks and had gone to a liquor store to buy more, but said he had not had anything to drink after he drove.
- The complaint states he had also collided with another vehicle in the same driveway where he was then parked.
- He allegedly told the officer, "I am going to jail I am pretty sure."
- Field sobriety testing indicated impairment from alcohol and possibly a controlled substance, according to the complaint.
- After police obtained a search warrant, he provided a urine sample at 10:22 p.m. The lab result showed an alcohol concentration of .072 and the presence of cocaine, according to the complaint.
A complaint is an accusation. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The deputies' dialogue in the video is made up. The crow's subtitled line is a direct quote from the complaint. The specific car parts, the hubcap and the deputies' remarks about themselves are invented.
